How can we help?
Ochre is a small, independently developed app. There's no support queue and no bot — every email comes straight to me, and I read everything.
Email tombuteux@gmail.com with your question, bug report, or feature idea. If something is broken, including your iPhone model and iOS version helps me reproduce it.
Common questions
Where is my data stored?
On your device, in a local SQLite database. Cards, decks, review history, and streaks never leave your phone — only the text you ask Ochre to turn into cards (or evaluate as an answer) is briefly sent to our AI proxy for processing. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID. If you stop subscribing, your library stays — you just lose AI generation and AI-evaluated review. Manual self-assessment review remains free forever.
I lost my phone — can I recover my cards?
Not yet. Cards live locally on your device, and we don't yet offer cloud sync. If your device is restored from an iCloud backup, app data is restored along with it. We're working on opt-in cloud sync for a future release.
Why does the AI sometimes get my answer wrong?
AI grading is a suggestion, not the final word. Tap a different rating to override it — your honest self-assessment is what drives the schedule. The more you correct it, the more you'll trust your own judgement, which is the whole point.
Is there an Android version?
iOS first. Android is on the roadmap but doesn't have a date yet.
Can I import my Anki deck?
Not yet. Anki .apkg import is on our post-launch list — let us know if it's something you'd use.
The voice input isn't working.
Make sure both Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions are granted in iOS Settings → Ochre. If those are on and it's still not working, email me with your iOS version and I'll dig in.
I have a feature idea.
Send it. Genuinely — Ochre's roadmap is shaped by what people actually need. tombuteux@gmail.com.
